The Arabian Horse or Arab, is a breed of horse that originated from the Arabian Peninsula. The Arab is best identified by its pronounced forehead, wide chest, and tail that is carried high. The Arab is known for being apt in riding, endurance, showing, dressage, and jumping. This desert-bred horse displays many other unique characteristics, such as a fin coat and thin skin, resistance to extreme heat and cold, ability to survive on minimal water and limited forage, great stamina, intelligence, and light form. The Arab was considered a gift from Allah, god, by the ancient people of Islam and is still treated as such. The horse’s prominent forehead was believed to hold the blessings of Allah, the arched neck was a sign of courage, and high tail indicated spirit.
